     Have you ever wondered why some people seem to just happen upon exactly what they want at exactly the right time?  I mean, those lucky you-know-whats are always running into the perfect person at the perfect time, finding the perfect pair of shoes, getting into the perfect line at the grocery store.... 
  
     I know someone who says that books seem to leap off the shelves at her when she is in search of an answer.

     I want that superpower!  I want helpful words, books, faces, and ideas to leap out at me, while all the unimportant stuff just fades into the background.  Don't you?
  
     Wouldn't it be great if you could tap into whatever power those people seem to have?  Wouldn't it be great to put that force to work for all your goals and dreams for 2012?

     Well.... You guessed it..... I've got good news!
  
     The power those lucky you-know-whats tap into isn't luck at all. Brain research shows that the answer to creating luck is found in the Reticular Activating System, which lies between the pons and the cerebellum in the brain.

     The RAS, as I'll call it, filters your sights, sounds, smells and thoughts, and brings your attention to the bits of the world that are useful for YOU. Not me, not the guy sitting next to you, but YOU. Your RAS works solely and loyally for YOU.

     And this is no small feat! There are 100 million bits of information that come at you from the world EACH SECOND. The RAS sorts it all, and calls your attention to the very few bits that are most helpful for you.

     But there is one hitch......

     You have to be willing to give some orders....

How To Program Your RAS To Reach Your Goals For 2012!

    
     "If my RAS is so smart," you might be saying, "then how come I'm not lucky already?"

     Well, you have to get a little bit selfish... And a little bit focused.  All at once.  Just for a moment.  Are you ready?

     Take a moment right now and bring to mind something you really want for 2012.
     
     Not something you don't want, like you don't want more backaches, or the world to end.  

     But there are things you DO want, like maybe a fulfilling job, toned abs, a beautiful garden, or a clean desk J

     Allow all the pieces of that image to come together in your mind. See it. Feel it. Smell it. Savor it....

     That's it! You did it! You activated your RAS!  Now it will begin to highlight the world around you, bringing your mind and your body together with what is most helpful for YOU.

     Now do it again. Just for fun J See yourself in the middle of your dream-come-true. What do you see? What do you feel? Soak it up, and take that feeling with you as you go about your day.

     Do this each day.

     Wish.  Dream.  Set intentions.  Be the boss of your RAS and see what amazing things you can create in 2012!

     Become a lucky you-know-what J You're worth it!

Find Peace in the Present Moment





The Remedy for Time Sickness  
  
    "Oh my goodness, it's the holidays!  I have so much to do!  And time goes so fast!  I always have 5 million things running through my mind.  And I've been so spacey lately.  I missed the freeway exit to my office yesterday.  And today, well, it's 4pm and I realize I haven't eaten all day!"

     Does this sound familiar?  If so, you're not alone.  The holidays can bring joy and laughter and visions of sugar-plums J But let's be truthful.  They also bring stress!

     Wouldn't it be great if you could enjoy the beauty and love of this time of year, without the anxieties and worries?

     Well, there is a place where stress disappears, peace expands, and time stands still....
  

Catch The Present Moment!

     Have you ever heard the saying, "Be Here Now?"  Well, it may seem like an obvious and redundant statement.  In fact, it may seem ridiculous to suggest that anyone could be anywhere but where they are, when they are. 

     But the truth is, we are rarely truly present in the moment.

     The monkey mind jumps from the empty cereal box, to the grocery store, to tomorrow when we can go shopping, to yesterday when we should have gone shopping....

     The present moment is about as slippery as an eel.  I mean, there it just went!  And again!  And there goes the next one!

     The answer?

Find Your Body!

     Your body is always in present time. It doesn't have the time-traveling capabilities of your mind, at least not yet J So when you find yourself feeling anxious, bring your attention back to your body.

     Try it now. It only takes a moment J
Bring your attention to your breath. Breathe in peace.... Breathe out tension..... Soften your gaze, or close your eyes.... Feel your feet on the ground. Notice the sounds and the smells around you.....
      There!  You caught the present moment!  Oooh, there it goes.... Catch it again! J

     As you arrive in the present moment, you notice that your worries and anxieties cannot come with you. They're stuck in the future. Your grudges and regrets are stuck in the past. And try as they might, they cannot follow you into the present moment.
  
    The chatter vanishes from your head.  And all of a sudden, you can enjoy the warmth of the sun, and the company of those around you.

     Food tastes better in the present moment.  Kitties are softer.  Children are cuter.

     But don't take my word for it.  Catch the present moment for yourself and see how sweet it is!
