Find "The Zone"and Kiss Your Stress Goodbye! Have you ever watched an athlete in the zone? You can see the calmness, readiness, alertness, joy, peace, and steadiness all at once. You know he or she is ON that day. Have you ever noticed these signs in yourself? Have you ever had that magical feeling where you know things are falling into place? Where you know the next step you take will be the right one? Where everything is in clear focus, even slow-motion? Would you LIKE to feel these signs in yourself? Would you like to turn off the stress and get into the zone anytime you like? Well I have some amazing news! New research from Marcus Raichle, a professor at Washington University School of Medicine, shows that the zone is really your natural state of mind! This natural state is like a cerebral symphony, with each part of the brain playing perfectly with the rhythm of the moment. Each part of the brain is in synch, and they're all in harmonious communication with each other via the conductor. Like beautiful and lively music, this state of mind is calming and yet energizing, peaceful and inspirational, creating a state of relaxation and high-readiness. It's a balance of the stimulating SNS (sympathetic nervous system) and the calming PNS (parasympathetic nervous system.) This is the zone. How Do I Create this Natural Symphony? "OK, cool. Now I know what 'The Zone' is," you might be saying. "But how do I get there?" Most of us stumble upon this state of mind and body by accident. You're in a good mood, had a good meal, a nice chat with a friend, an exhilarating run in the park on a sunny day... And all of a sudden the answer to a long-standing problem just pops into your head, or that name you'd been trying to think of suddenly lands in your consciousness. But how do we create the zone on demand? Or better said, how do we get back to our natural state of being? With a simple kiss J Three tricks are at your disposal at every moment of every day, and they spell MWA! That's how I spell kiss, anyway J M stands for MOVEMENT. Moving your body gets your blood moving, which gets oxygen and nutrients moving throughout your system, and it stimulates your brain into alertness. Go ahead. Try it now. Wiggle your toes. Wiggle your hips. Sway from side to side. Do you feel more awake? More alert? Did you smile even though you were trying not to? J W stands for WATER. Water generates energy in your body by powering little hydroelectric pumps in each cell. The more water you drink, the better these turbines turn, and the more energy your body can make! A stands for AIR. Your blood can only pump oxygen if you bring it in with deep breaths! And breathing has other magical powers as well J Taking a full breath in will stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, which releases chemicals that promote alertness, excitement, and pain relief. Taking a long breath out will activate the parasympathetic nervous system to reduce stress and increase peace. Breathe in the alertness.... Breathe out and feel the peace. In...excitement Out....relaxation. Kiss your stress goodbye, and welcome yourself into the zone, your new natural state of being J Peace, blessings, and smiles to all!
